People are not ignoring you. This is a forum of volunteers that provide their own free time to help others. It's not a chat program of instant support and it's not a short order kitchen where you put in an order and get back a meal in 5 minutes.

Please run MBAM, update it and the run a Quick Scan and post back the log please. Myself or someone else will help you as soon as they have time. There are dozens of other people seeking help as well and there are only so many helpers and so much time so thank you for your patience.

No please do not restore any files. Files sitting in the Chest are quarantined already and are of no threat to your system. Typically after a day or two if you're certain that there is no false positive file in there and that your computer is working okay you can then empty or delete the files in quarantine.

Please just run this.

Update and Scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

  • Start MalwareBytes AntiMalware (Vista users must Right click and choose RunAs Admin)
  • Please DO NOT run MBAM in Safe Mode unless requested to, you MUST run it in normal Windows mode.
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Select the Update tab
    • Click Update

[*]When the update is complete, select the Scanner tab

[*]Select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.

[*]When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.

[*]Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.

[*]When completed, a log will open in Notepad. please copy and paste the log into your next reply

    • If you accidently close it, the log file is saved here and will be named like this:
    • C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt

Then RESTART the computer and AFTER the reboot run HJT Do a system scan and save a logfile

The post back NEW MBAM and HJT logs in that order please.

There is no need to right now. They are of no threat to you while in there. They are there in case one of them is legit and you actually need it you could get it back. Generally once you're clean for a couple days you would delete quarantined files in your Chest.

Please update your Anti-Virus and do a Full Scan and then let me know if it finds anything or not.

I'll try to check back with you either later tonight or tomorrow.

Well it found 5 new infected files when I rand Avast. It was in a desktop folder. I originally deleted the infected files because they weren't really that important but more infected files were found in the folder. I deleted most of the new infected files but I left two in my chest just in case you guys needed them for something.

Please run the following System Restore cleanup

Disable and Enable System Restore-WINDOWS XP

This is a good time to clear your existing system restore points and establish a new clean restore point:

Turn off System Restore

  • On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
  • Click Properties.
  • Click the System Restore tab.
  • Check Turn off System Restore.
  • Click Apply, and then click OK.
  • Reboot.

Turn ON System Restore

  • On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
  • Click Properties.
  • Click the System Restore tab.
  • UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
  • Click Apply, and then click OK.

This will remove all restore points except the new one you just created.

Then please update your Anti-Virus to the latest definitions and then do another FULL SCAN and fix anything found.

Then update MBAM and do a Quick Scan and fix anything found.

Then RESTART the PC and run a new HJT Scan and Save log.

Let me know how the computer is running and if there are still any signs of an infection.

Okay here's the first HJT log. MBAM didn't find anything but what I did find strange was that dnmshra.dll, on of my infected files, was supposedly deleted. But it's still in my Temp folder and I can't remove it. I did a scan and it didn't find anything wrong with the file, but I just don't trust it because there's nothing on the internet about it.

Please visit this webpage for instructions for downloading ComboFix to your
DESKTOP
:
how-to-use-combofix

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

NOTE!!:

You must save and run
ComboFix.exe
on your DESKTOP and not from any other folder.

Also,
DO NOT
click the mouse or launch any other applications while this is running or it may stall the program

Additional links to download the tool:

Note:

The
Windows Recovery Console
will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Please continue as follows:
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
  • Click
    Yes
to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

  • When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

  • Please post the
    C:\ComboFix.txt
    along with a
    new HijackThis log
so we may continue cleaning the system.

Okay once again I'm sorry. I've been busy with school tomorrow's Friday so I'll be out of school by the afternoon. I'll have a lot of time to catch up with this. If you must know the computer's been running fine and I must say my computer does run faster.
