Please help! There is a virus(trojan) "Packed.Win32.Klone.bq" that appears to be in the Trash on my Mac side of my computer. The exe name is "6imy1dy.exe".

The location of the file shows up in the Kaspersky reports as File://Users/danaskins/.Trash/School/6imy1dy.exe. It has been identified by Kapersky Virus software, but cannot be deleted.

I also loaded Malwarebytes anti-malware and scanned for over 49 hours. It identified 128 infected objects. Rather than allow the scan to continue indefinitely, I aborted the scan after 49 hours and successfully deleted the infected objects. However, the trojan remained in the trash. There appears to be many hidden files in folders and files wth file names too long - therefore they cannot be deleted.

The Kapersky virus softward no longer runs. I was not able to access the defogger exe. Is the GMER Rootkit Scanner for use on a Mac? Please advise. Thank you.

Hi and welcome to Malwarebytes.

.exe files cannot launch on mac.

File://Users/danaskins/.Trash/School/6imy1dy.exe is probably not on the mac side.

Please update MBAM, run a Quick Scan, and post its log.

Next, please visit this webpage for instructions for running ComboFix:

  • When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the C:\ComboFix.txt along with a new DDS log so we may continue cleaning the system.
