Hello avon4u

Maybe one of your add-ons is causing this issue.

Have you already tried to use Firefox with add-ons disabled? (Help -> Restart with add-ons disabled)

Can you add attachments in Hotmail with add-ons disabled?

Hi, avon4u:

Until Mystery returns, please take a look at this article to learn about troubleshooting for Firefox by temporarily disabling extensions (aka "add-ons"): http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

Additional troubleshooting info is here: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_%28Firefox%29

PS You might also have a look at the hotmail forums.

At the top of the Firefox window, click the Firefox button, go over to the Help menu and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.... Firefox will start up with the Firefox Safe Mode dialog.

For Windows XP, click the Help menu and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled....

After that, try to add an attachment in Hotmail. Does it work in this mode?

You're welcome :)

In this case one of your add-ons/extensions is causing the problem.

If you would like to figure out which one, you can go to your add-ons (second item above Help menu), disable all of them, restart Firefox, and then enable them one by one and testing the Hotmail attachment each time you enable one.

Basically, you need to figure out which add-on is causing this problem. You can disable all your add-ons, and then re-enabled them one by one. It's a tedious process, but once you have figured out which add-on is responsible for the problem, you can leave that specific add-on disabled:

  • At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP), and then click Add-ons. The Add-ons Manager tab will open.
  • In the Add-ons Manager tab, select the Extensions or Plugins panel.
  • Select all add-ons.
  • Click the Disable button.
  • If prompted, click Restart Firefox to finish disabling the add-on.

Then try to add an attachment in Hotmail, re-enable your add-ons one by one (each time after enabling an add-on, try the attachment in Hotmail) in order to figure out which one causes this issue:

To re-enable an add-on, find it in the list of Add-ons and click Enable, then restart Firefox.
