Can someone please help?

I was told to use Malwarebytes by my "computer guy" but now I can't update.

I get the message "PROGRAM_ERROR_UPDATING (11001,0, HOST NOT FOUND)

I can still scan but every time I open the program it tells me it is outdated.

I had a really nasty problem a while ago and don't want a repeat.

Thanks

Hi I'm new and I don't know how to post. Mine won't update. Program_Error_Updating

SOFT (100 53, 0, Software caused connection abort) An established connection was aborted in your host machine.

Will someione put this in the correct place for me. I didn't see a Welcome Guide to see how to post. Thank you.

Hello skippy1: :welcome:

Please do a MBAM clean re-install by doing the following:

  1. Download and run the latest mbam-clean.exe.
  2. Restart your computer, please allow it to do so - VERY IMPORTANT!
  3. Disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here.
  4. Reactivate the PRO version of the program, if applicable, using the license within the boxed version or was sent via email.
  5. Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration, if applicable. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
  6. Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the PRO version.
  7. Setup any process/folder/file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.

Please use the "ADD REPLY" Add-Reply.png button instead of other ones when you start replying.

Please let us know if & how you succeeded. :)

  • Root Admin

No that is not true. The free version updates as always and continues to be free.

You may have a setting or issue on your system preventing the update and needs to be corrected.

That specific error is almost certain to be due to your firewall or ISP preventing the update.

Please run the following scanner and post back the logs

Download
DDS
and save it to your desktop

Disable any script blocker if your Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware has it.

Once downloaded you can disconnect from the Internet and disable your Ant-Virus temporarily if needed.

Then double click
dds.scr
to run the tool.

When done, the
DDS.txt
will open.

Click Yes at the next prompt for Optional Scan.

When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:

  1. DDS.txt

  2. Attach.txt

  • Save both reports to your desktop
  • Please include the following logs in your next reply:
    DDS.txt
    and
    Attach.txt

OK I misunderstood the first reply. What is non-scripting software?

The script blocking software is normally a function of Anti-Virus or other security software, it's okay your post is fine.

I see an issue right off the bat though. It shows you appear to be running 2 different Firewall programs.

You need to choose one and remove the other to prevent conflicts.

FW: Outpost Firewall *Enabled*

FW: ZoneAlarm Firewall *Enabled*

You also have something causing some of the services to fail as shown in your event logs at the bottom of the DDS log.

Though you may or may not be infected I would seek assistance in the HJT forum to have someone help you take a further look. Remove one of the Firewall products and then proceed as indicated below please. If they find no Malware and you still need General PC help them come back and let us know.

Here are the steps needed to get your computer cleaned....

Please read the following so that you can begin the cleaning process:

You have 3 Options that you can choose from as listed below:

  • Option 1 —— Free Expert advice in the Malware Removal Forum
  • Option 2 —— Paying customer -- Contact Support via email
  • Option 3 —— Premium, Fee-Based Support

OPTION 1

As we don't deal with malware removal in the
General Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Forum
, you need to start a topic in the
Malware Removal forum
so a qualified helper can help you fix any malware related problems/infections you may have.

  • Please read and follow the
    directions here
, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a
    NEW topic here
    .

  • After posting your new post, make sure under
    options
    , you select
    Track this topic
    and choose
    Immediate Email Notification
, so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post.

  • One of the
    expert helpers
there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.

  • Please refrain from making any further changes to your computer such as (Install/Uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc...) unless advised by a malware removal helper. Doing so can result in system changes which may hinder the attempts by a helper to clean your machine.

NOTE:

Please DO NOT post back to (bump) your topic within the first 48 hours.

Replying to your own posts changes the post count and helpers are looking for topics with zero replies. If you reply to your own post helpers may think that you're already being helped and thus overlook your post.
    • If there is no reply from any experts after 48 hours, you can reply to the topic, asking for help again.

      Or

    • You may send a Private Message to a Moderator asking for assistance.

OPTION 2

Alternatively, as a paying customer, you can contact the help desk at
support@malwarebytes.org
or
here
.

OPTION 3

If you would like to use our Malwarebytes Premium Services, Comprehensive solutions to all your computer support needs—from installation and set-up to troubleshooting and tune-ups go to our
Malwarebytes Premium Services
support site.

Please be patient, someone will assist you as soon as it is possible.

PS: Please use the "ADDREPLY" Add-Reply.png button instead of other ones when you start replying. :)
