Noticed a few days ago Malwarebytes wouldnt run. Avast Antivirus is up to date and a full scan showed no problems. Spybot was updated , ran and fixed what it found. Malwarebytes still wont run. I uninstalled and reinstalled but no joy. Possibly because of the fresh install i cant find a

most recent Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware log file but here is my HijackThis log file -

Hi, thanks for your reply :)

There is nothing actually on C: it was years ago this install of windows was put on, and it automatically assigned itself as H: though i have no idea why. C: is showing as a "removebale drive" but there is never anything plugged into it. No idea how to access it. I am running XP i should have said also. Thanks.

No joy I'm afraid. Still would not run.

You are not alone. The EXACT same thing has happened to me. I have tried all free scanners and have installed and uninstalled malbytes malware about a dozen times. The program is there but I cannot get mbam.exe to run. I have loaded other new programs to see if this happened to others but they run fine. I am running XP and my problem also started about same date. I have had & used Malbytes for several years with no problem.

Perhaps if board members know this problem is not unique we can find a solution.

Hi,

We are aware of this issue. Here is a fix for it:

Please open Notepad. Copy and paste the following text (starting with @echo off) into the Notepad document.

Navigate to File --> Save As..., and save the file as fix.bat (make sure the Save As Type is set to All Files).

Save it to your Desktop.

@echo off
::adds an essential reg key to run MBAM on a different partition.
reg add "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment" /v "OPENSSL_CONF" /d "1" /f
shutdown /r /t 10
del /f /q %0

Now navigate to your Desktop, and double click fix.bat

A black window will open and close quickly. This is normal. Reboot and see if MBAM will run now.
