Please do the following:

  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here
    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.

Hi, Dublin70:

You'll only have the system tray icon if you are using the MBAM PRO version and have the real-time protection module enabled.

This feature is not available in the FREE version.

If you just reinstalled PRO, then you'll need to register it with the ID and key sent to you via email from the reseller, Cleverbridge.

Then you will be able to enable the real-time protection module.

And don't forget to update to get the most current definitions database. :)

Hi, Dublin70:

Until AdvancedSetup returns, are you asking about how to pin MBAM to the Windows task bar?

I don't know what OS you are running, but for Vista/7:

Click the start orb in the lower left corner of your desktop > "all programs" > scroll down to the MBAM folder & click to open it > locate the MBAM program icon > right click the MBAM icon > select "pin to taskbar" from the context menu.

I think that should do it. :)

It's been a while since I used XP, but IIRC it is a similar process.

Is that what you mean?

If not, then I'll wait for you to post back with the screenshot requested by AdvancedSetup, and will defer to him for additional advice. :)

I would like to refine what I told you yesterday regarding the nmwb icon. The function was placed on the taskbar but the visual icon for mwb was missing. all I had was a generic bland looking thing on the taskbar - I went to properties and said "change icon" and chose mwb naturally. It would not do it. As I said, I could get the function to the taskbar but I wanted the mwb visual. I now have everything back in running order the way I like and I am happy. Thanks again. Just thought I would explain my predic a little further.

Windows 7 sometimes ends up with a corrupt iconcache.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/49819-icon-cache-rebuild.html

And there are a few threads here at the MBAM forum about the MBAM icon reverting to the "generic" (which it seems was the original problem you were having -- not that it was missing, but that the appearance had changed?).

I had the problem once before myself, with my MBAM desktop icon.

Anyway, glad it is fixed.
