Hi and welcome to Malwarebytes.

thumbs.db is a legitimate file.

Configure Windows XP to hide hidden files:

Navigate to Start --> My Computer.

Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options. Select the View tab.

Under the Hidden files and folders heading select "Don't show hidden files and folders".

Check the "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)" option.

Check the "Hide file extensions for known file types" option.

Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.

Reboot.

Thank you Chris i have done as you suggested. :)

While my HJT log is here, do you notice anything worrying?

I have tried several times to remove vodafone & Tmobile files etc from my notebook, but as you can see they are still there :(

do you have any suggestions as they come up on my screen on start up, but they are not in my set program access or defaults list or applications.

I am not sure if i have any malware, nothing is showing up on MBAM scans :)

I don't see any glaring issues.

You could remove these from Add or Remove Programs:

MSN Toolbar

Windows Live Toolbar

Yahoo! Toolbar

Have HijackThis fix these:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MobileBroadband] C:\Program Files\Vodafone\Vodafone Mobile Broadband\Bin\MobileBroadband.exe /silent

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Mobile Partner] "C:\Program Files\Virgin Mobile\Broadband Home\VIRGIN MOBILE BROADBAND HOME.exe"

Reboot.

Please download SystemLook from one of the links below and save it to your Desktop.

Download Mirror #1

Download Mirror #2

  • Double-click SystemLook.exe to run it.
  • Copy the content of the following codebox into the main textfield:
    :regfind
    Vodafone
    Virgin
    :filefind
    Vodafone
    Virgin
    :folderfind
    Vodafone
    Virgin

  • Click the Look button to start the scan.
  • When finished, a notepad window will open with the results of the scan. Please post this log in your next reply.

Note: The log can also be found on your Desktop entitled SystemLook.txt
