Need bat file to make MB reliable

ISSUE:Can't depend on MalwareBytes (MB) to load at start. Keep getting the odd error code 2 on random days on random boots.

REQUEST: A .bat file or macros set to run at boot to ensure MB loads, regardless of error code 2.

DETAILS:

On boot, am left with a window stating the following:

  • [OpenEvent] Failed to perform desired action. Error Code:2

In order to load MB, after boot, one must:
  1. After boot, error showed up in popup "[OpenEvent] Failed to perform desired action . Error Code:2"
  2. Clicked "OK" in the error box (it's not OK really - but what can ya do)
  3. No Malwarebytes loaded.
  4. Ran Malwarebytes from Start > All programs > Malwarebytes
  5. Clicked "Protection" tab.
  6. MB window showed red warning box "Protection disabled"
  7. Clicked "Enable protection module" checkbox.
  8. MB Green box shows "Protection enabled".
  9. Clicked Update tab
  10. Clicked Check for Updates button.
  11. Downloaded 6.89 meg file
  12. Updated from version 7466 to version 7470

MB showed up in tray and in 'processes' but can't tell if it's working. Might be - might not be - can't be sure anymore.

A lot of steps just load it at boot, and (can't) be certain it is loaded. I do test by checkling it every few hours - just to make sure it's in the tray and running. (Go to ctrl-alt-del > Task Manager > Processes and look for the 2 mbam processes. There are just 2 - right?

Has anyone written a bat file or created a set of macros that will, on demand, or after everything is loaded, run the above 12 steps. In short - another 12 step program? ;)

BTW - I don't think it right that any manufacturer of any thing should be allowed to put a product out in to the wild and leave it up to end users to fix any of the products problemns. It use to be included in the price. Now days, we buy somethuing, then either pay a "premium" to have it work, or depend on others to make it work. No offense to those that dedicate their time here to help others, you should be at beach instead, and the manufacturer should be here supporting their product - not at the beach. JMO

Please try the following:

  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here
    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
      Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.
