LinkedIn alert: Your photo may be used in ads

LinkedIn has been trying to become more like Facebook, but that's not all good necessarily. The professional networking site appears to have pulled a Facebook-like move with a change to its privacy policy that lets LinkedIn use its members' profile photos in ads on the site.

The change was announced on LinkedIn's blog a few months ago, and there was a follow-up posting a few weeks later — but honestly, how many of you are reading LinkedIn's blog on a regular basis? No notification was sent to LinkedIn's 100 million members.

Here's what the revamped privacy policy says:

LinkedIn may sometimes pair an advertiser's message with social content from LinkedIn's network in order to make the ad more relevant. When LinkedIn members recommend people and services, follow companies, or take other actions, their name/photo may show up in related ads shown to you. Conversely, when you take these actions on LinkedIn, your name/photo may show up in related ads shown to LinkedIn members. By providing social context, we make it easy for our members to learn about products and services that the LinkedIn network is interacting with.
