What is BlueFlare Antivirus?

The Malwarebytes research team has determined that BlueFlare Antivirus is a fake anti-malware application. These so-called "rogues" use intentional false positives to convince users that their systems have been compromised. Then they try to sell you their software, claiming it will remove these threats. In extreme cases the false threats are actually the very trojans that advertise or even directly install the rogue. You are strongly advised to follow our removal instructions below.

How do I know if I am infected with BlueFlare Antivirus?

This is how the main screen of the rogue application looks:

    • Now RENAME the mbam.exe in there to iexplore.exe
      mbamiexplore.png
    • If you want to avoid some possible problems later, rightclick the file and use the "Create Shortcut" option. Drag the shortcut to your desktop so you can easily start the program once you are back in normal mode.

[*]After you reboot back into normal mode:

    • Doubleclick the iexplore.exe (the renamed mbam.exe or use the shortcut you created) in order to launch Malwarebytes' Antimalware.
    • Once the program window is open, the first and most important part is to UPDATE Malwarebytes' Antimalware first.
    • This can be done via the Update tab > Check for updates.
    • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
    • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
    • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
    • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. Reboot your computer if prompted.
    • When completed, a log will open in Notepad.
    • You will be prompted to let the computer reboot, after which the rogue application should be gone.

[*]Rename the iexplore.exe back to mbam.exe and delete the shortcut from your desktop, if you created it.
