Weird problem with my PC

Hi,

My PC was working absolutely fine yesterday and when I turned on today, there seems to be a major problem that I've never came across with in my life. Maybe it's a virus but I ran online virus scan and nothing was detected. Anyway, the problems:

Firstly, the window loads slowly, then the next thing I notice was that the taskbar seemed bit different. The size seemed bit bigger than normal (not twice as big but very slightly higher)

Also, the language bar is stretched to far left close to the start button. I tried moving it but it doesn't drag. This was weird so I tried dragging one of my program icons in the desktop and I can't drag and drop at all. I can highlight it but when I try to move it, it doesn't do anything.

Next problem is when I opened up my browser and minimize the bar, it doesn't appear in the taskbar (I guess this is due to language bar being stretched far left?). I can alt-tab it to open it again but it's not visible in the taskbar.

Another problem, copy and paste works in desktop icon (say I highlight and select the icon name, copy and paste it on notepad - this works. I copy from notepad to firefox it works. But when I try to cope something from my browser to notepad, it doesn't work)

Finally last thing I noticed was the sound was disabled. Maybe it's a sound card problem? but when I open up a music or go youtube, sound doesn't work. I wanted to check if sound card is problem so I went to device manager to open up property and it doesn't open. Device manager opens up perfectly, but when I click on property, nothing comes up.

Ok, sadly, this seems like a big problem (by the looks of it). I tried running malwarebytes anti-malware program but it gives me an error saying "Run-time error '372': Failed to load control vbalGrid from vbalsgrid.ocx. Your version of vbalsgrid6.ocx may be outdated. Make sure you are using the version of the control that was provided with your application."

Any experts have any idea what the problem might be?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Thank you so much in advance!

(PS. not sure if this is a PC problem or a virus so I'm posting it up here.. and if it's in the wrong section, can mod please kindly move this thread to where it belongs? because I can't copy anything that I've written here so I have to rewrite this again :( - very sorry for the trouble, thanks)

Please try a system restore point from when you knew all was OK.

I got a following message:

System Restore cannot run until you restart the computer. Please restart the computer and then run the System Restore again.

Well, I restarted the computer and still got the same message.:(

Hi I would

run a full scan with the latest updates with malwarebytes anti- malware

http://www.malwarebytes.org/

download DDS and save it to your desktop

http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr

Disable any script blocker if your Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware has it.

Once downloaded you can disconnect from the Internet and disable your Ant-Virus temporarily if needed.

Then double click dds.scr to run the tool.

it will make a dds.text and attach.txt logs take those along with a hijack this log and post them all in this area http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showforum=7 and allow one of experts to help have a look

Hi,

For some odd reason, when I turned on my computer, the problem is gone!

I have no idea what this problem was or how I fixed it (though I didn't do anything really..)

So, all in all. It's been fixed I guess? Since now, I have no problem and everything seems to be running normal.

Any idea the reason why this problem might have occurred though? I mean, I didn't even run a virus program or anything really.. so I don't know why it wasn't running properly yesterday and it's perfectly fine today.

Oh, and thank you so much for trying to help me. :) Really appreciate it.

Hello hoon:

Congratulations! :D

While your system is working well, think about doing a full back-up of your hard disk drive (HDD). USB enclosures with enormous storage space are low priced versus the loss of your data/documents etc.

Cheers. :)
