Malwarebytes never finishs the quick scan

Hi, everyone,

I just found that there is something very strange on my laptop.

I have not use this machine for quite a while. Since my desktop

get infected last Friday, I did a mbm update and check on this

machine as well. 14 objects infected, but mbm cannot finish

the quick scan after running for more than 90 minutes. I checked

the situation in the task manager, and it showed that the mbm

sometimes was working and sometimes was not responding.

There is no sign of virus, and no performance degradation.

Of course, the symantec thing just always keep silence...

Hi and welcome to Malwarebytes.

Can you see what is being detected before the scan stops?

Please reboot to Safe Mode (tap the F8 key just before Windows starts to load and select the Safe Mode option from the menu). See if the scan will finish there.

Hi, Screen317,

I just noticed your response. I apologize for the very late reply...

In the full scan mode the Malwarebytes can finish the quick scan. At the end, there are two logs. I am now trying a full scan.

Currently, the symantec endpoint says:

File system auto-protection is malfunctioning.

And the symantec liveupdate failed with an internal error.

There are three account on this computer. Two of them have administrator privilege and are name A and B. The third one is the default Administrator account.

But, I cannot login the Administrator account anymore.(Or possibly I forget the password, and this is very unlikely.)

Hi,

I'm afraid I have bad news.

Your logs reveal a backdoor trojan. A backdoor severely compromises system integrity.

A compromised system may allow illicit network connections, disabling of security software, modifying critical system files and collection and transmiission of personal identifiable information without your consent.

I recommend that you disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately, and only reconnect to download any tools that are required. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or it if it contains any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.

Though the Trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of Trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. If it were on my PC I would not hesitate for a moment to do so. Please read these for more information:

Hi,

Infections don't change your passwords. It's probable that you're just entering it incorrectly. You should be able to change its password from one of the other admin accounts.

Please update MBAM, run a Quick Scan, and post its log.

Next, download DDS by sUBs and save it to your Desktop.

Double-click on the DDS icon and let the scan run. When it has run two logs will be produced, please post only DDS.txt directly into your reply.

Yes, you are right. I forget my password. And I recalled it.

The first time I tried MBM, it cannot finish the quick scan. Then

I tried it again in safemode, and it found 4 infections.
