MB + ext2fsd = Code 38

Recommended Posts

I have Windows 7 64bit and on it I have ext2fsd installed for years without any problem. But after I got paid version of MB I started to having problems with SD cards, when I remove any and then insert I get error 38 in device manager (previous instance of the device is in use). When I disable ext2fsd or the MB service the problem goes away. Could you help me? I would like to keep booth of them running at same time without any SD cards problems. Is there anything in the MB service (I think that's the resident protection) what could be done so it wouldn't interfere with ext2 driver and SD cards (perhaps it affects other removable devices, but I'm using SD cards a lot of time)?

For any help, thanks in advance. Anton.

Hello Anton: :welcome:

I am going to defer to a Malwarebytes' staffer who may wish to look at the data OTL will provide.

Please download Oldtimer's OTL.exe to your Desktop.

To Get/Use OTL:

  • Get OTL.exe from
here.
Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
OTL should now start. Change only the following settings:

Change Drivers to
All
.

Change Standard Registry to
All
.

Under File Scans, check that
File Age
is
30
.

Click the
Run Scan
button. Do not change any other settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan won't take long.

When the scan completes, it will open two Notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt (first run only). These are saved in the same location as OTL.exe
Please attach these 2 files in your next reply.

Thank you for your patience. :)

Ok here are the dumps, while making the dump the MB was disabled, because even I paid for it, it's making my computer almost not-productive at all (rebooting 30 times daily, or losing ext2 access for me is not a option).

Don't these files leave a lot of data out there about ones computer?

The use of ext2fsd has not been tested with our product and we cannot commit to any current development and testing at this time.

You may want to review something like this on your own.

If you've paid for the program and its not functioning for you then you can email support and have them assist you in obtaining a refund for the product.

Thank you

You gave me link to older version, I already use the most recent version. Yes I got the lifetime, so I'm disappointed that you won't be testing it. I expected that whole purpose of paid software against open-source is to have better support so I would be glad to get the refund and buy it later in future when you manage to solve the issue.

Could I ask you to delete this topic? I already communicate with email support and I don't feel comfortable to have the OTF data publicly here.

Thank You
