Regarding the errror message: Program error load database (0, 13, Create SDK)

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

This is my first post on this forum but i have been a user of malwarebytes for a long time now. The other day i was working on my

friends computer and i found that he was running Nortons 360, with my complete hate for this software i removed it off his computer

and installed AVG free and malwarebytes free.

The avg went on with no troubles at all, but the malwarebytes kept coming up with the

error Program error load datebase (0, 13, create SDK) so i jumped start onto the forums and google to see if anyone else was having

the same problem and yes there was a few. So i looked into the information on how to fix the fault that was posted which was the same fault that

I'm writing about here.

All the information that i saw kept saying show hidden files etc etc.... But i noticed that this was not working for me and a couple of other people that have reported the same error.

for the people that still have this fault and can't fix i have found out how to,

Step 1: Was there another internet security program or anti-virus program installed on you computer before you tried to install malwarebytes. (Norton's, Mac afee, Trend micro)Then keep reading if not stop reading now.

Step 2: Download the removal tool designed for the old software and run it. i.e. Norton's removal tool. Even if you have removed the program via add or remove programs still run it.

Step 3: Restart the computer.

Step 4: Delete or rename the rules.ref file.

Step 5: Check for updates with malwarebytes and see how you go.

Please let my know if it works for you guys as it worked for me.

There have been cases where the AV is actually itself infected and requires full manual removal. But, that said it is a case by case review and not recommended as a first step fix. Analyzing what is really wrong on each computer is the best approach.

For most users the best advice is this below.

If you think you are infected, here are the steps needed to get your computer cleaned....

Please read the following so that you can begin the cleaning process:

You have 3 Options that you can choose from as listed below:

  • Option 1 —— Free Expert advice in the Malware Removal Forum
  • Option 2 —— Paying customer -- Contact Support via email
  • Option 3 —— Premium, Fee-Based Support

As we don't deal with malware removal in the
General Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Forum
, you need to start a topic in the
Malware Removal forum
so a qualified helper can help you fix any malware related problems/infections you may have.

  • Please read and follow the
    directions here
, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a
    NEW topic here

  • After posting your new post, make sure under
    , you select
    Track this topic
    and choose
    Immediate Email Notification
, so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post.

  • One of the
    expert helpers
there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.

  • Please refrain from making any further changes to your computer such as (Install/Uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc...) unless advised by a malware removal helper. Doing so can result in system changes which may hinder the attempts by a helper to clean your machine.

Please DO NOT post back to (bump) your topic within the first 48 hours.

Replying to your own posts changes the post count and helpers are looking for topics with zero replies. If you reply to your own post helpers may think that you're already being helped and thus overlook your post.
    • If there is no reply from any experts after 48 hours, you can reply to the topic, asking for help again.

    • You may send a Private Message to a Moderator asking for assistance.

Alternatively, as a paying customer, you can contact the help desk at

If you would like to use our Malwarebytes Premium Services, Comprehensive solutions to all your computer support needs—from installation and set-up to troubleshooting and tune-ups go to our
