gyromatic52 Posted July 7, 2011 ID:450699 Share Posted July 7, 2011 I am having a similar problem as Jeff and would like to know should I follow the same directions given by PW1 I believe was the one who posted an answer to him. My problem is that when I click on check for updates it starts to connect then the error window pops up. Within the small window it says PROGRAM-ERROR-UPDATING (2,0, Create File) I was introduced to malware by microsoft and it has always been able to find things that McAfee failed to find. I would like to run the malwarebytes scanner as I had a false threat last week and could not even check my email or go to a website. It would not let me do anything. I finally tried restore and as you can see I am able to check email and go to a website now. However since all I did was go back to a date when I was able to do that I am sure the malicious file is still there it just went into hiding temporarily. Please reply so I can use malwarebytes to get rid of this threat on my computer.
1PW Posted July 7, 2011 ID:450723 Share Posted July 7, 2011 Hello gyromatic52: Doing a reinstall by following the instructions below should fix your issue. Please do the following: Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates. Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it. HTH
