Vista MRI_Disabled

I just successfully removed Vista Disk Repair Virus from the Laptop. I also used the unhide to successfully get the desktop items to reappear.

However, now when I reboot the laptop it seems to take forever.

When it finally starts all the way I get the START MENU MRI Disabled windows.

I have attached a copy of the Hijack log.

Any suggestions?

The Vista Recovery virus is quite a nasty one. Let's run some scans to see if there are any traces that might be causing the problem you have described.

Please print or save this topic: it will make it easier for you to follow the instructions and complete all of the necessary steps.

I strongly recommend you remove Ask Toolbar from your computer because:

  • It promotes its toolbars on sites targeted at kids.
  • It promotes its toolbars through ads that appear to be part of other companies' sites.
  • It promotes its toolbars through other companies' spyware.
  • It is Installed without any disclosure whatsoever and without any consent from the user whatsoever.
  • It Solicits installations via "deceptive door openers" that do not accurately describe the offer; failing to affirmatively show a license agreement; linking to a EULA via an off-screen link.
  • It makes confusing changes to user's browsers -- increasing Ask's revenues while taking users to pages they didn't intend to visit.

To remove it, please follow the instructions found here.

Please download to your Desktop:

  • TDSSKiller.zip from here and extract it (right click on it => "Extract here").

>>> TDSSKiller: Double-click on TDSSKiller.exe to run the application.

  • Click on the Start Scan button and wait for the scan and disinfection process to be over.
  • If an infected file is detected, the default action will be Cure, click on Continue tdsskiller2.png
  • If a suspicious file is detected, the default action will be Skip, click on Continue tdsskiller3.png
  • If you are asked to reboot the computer to complete the process, click on the Reboot Now button. A report will be automatically saved at the root of the System drive ((usually C:\) in the form of "TDSSKiller.[Version]_[Date]_[Time]_log.txt" (for example, C:\TDSSKiller.2.2.0_20.12.2009_15.31.43_log.txt). Please copy and paste the contents of that file here.
