Something weird is happening after I deleted a virus

Recommended Posts

I just joined and downloaded/installed malwarebytes on my computer, preformed a quick scan, found a threat, quarantined it and deleted it.Within seconds of quarantining the virus malwarebytes blocked a website, then a few minutes after deleting it,it blocked another website. Is this normal? At the moment of posting I am running a full scan.

Hello and welcome, frenchfriedfrenchman:

IP blocking can occur as a result of certain legitimate programs such as SKYPE and when MBAM is doing its job, blocking bad content on websites from getting onto your computer.

But it can also be the result of infection on your system, especially if the blocks are "outgoing".

Please have a look at the following posts/articles about MBAM's IP blocking:

here, here and here.

They explain how it works.

After doing so, if you think these IP blocks are false positives, then please start a new thread here.

Or, if you think your system might be infected -- based on the IP blocks or other suspicious computer behavior -- then please do the following, as we do not work on malware removal in this part of the forum.

1. First, please go to THIS PAGE, print out, read and follow as many instructions as you can, skipping any you are unable to complete.

2. Then, please describe your computer's symptoms as best you can and post the requested MBAM and DDS logs at the Malware Removal-HJT forum . Please post the results of the requested scans directly into your post, using copy/paste, rather than attaching them. NOTE: as you have already started a thread there, it would be best now to run the requested scans and hang on to the requested scan logs until an expert helper picks up your thread and asks for them. Please do NOT start another duplicate thread at the malware removal forum.

One of the authorized, trained experts will then assist you as soon as possible for free, one-on-one malware detection and removal.

When you post, please be sure to select Track This Topic & choose one of the email options, so that you will be notified when someone responds.

Please be patient and allow at least 48 hours before bumping your thread -- otherwise it may appear to the experts that you are already being helped.

(The helpers scan the boards looking for threads with "0" replies to spot those still needing a helper.)

Other Support Options:

--- Alternatively, if you are a paying customer using MBAM PRO, you may wish instead to start a free support ticket by contacting support at: support@malwarebytes.org; or

--- Premium, fee-based support options are available here.

NOTE: If you are a reseller, affiliate, technician, corporate, business, educational, government or non-profit customer then please contact corporate-support@malwarebytes.org and include full contact details along with your Reference # when you do, in order to ensure that you receive prompt assistance.

PS: Please use the a8JTu.jpg button instead of other ones when you reply here and at the other forums, so that it will be easier to read. :)

HTH,

I do not own a printer,so I just started a new thread.I hope that will be OK.

thank you for your advice and help

If no printer, fine. We ask that you print the instructions, since it makes it easier to follow the instructions.

But, did you read where I asked that you not start another new thread at the malware removal forum, since you already have an open thread there? :)

ONE thread is all you need.... :)

Please be patient and wait for a reply by an expert at your thread at the HJT forum.

Someone will assist you as soon as possible.

Thanks!
