Update error (122,0,MultiByteToWideChar)

I keep getting this error on my laptop (122,0,MultiByteToWideChar). I've turned off my firwall. My other laptop updates fine. I did remove an Trojan Virus with the old signitures, but can't update. Any ideas? Thanks.

Lets try the instructions below first, but I could be due to the infection you had....

Please do the following:

• 
  
• Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  
• It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  
• After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here
  
  • 
    
  • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    
  • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
    Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.

Sounds as if you might have malware traces left on the computer as a result of the recent infection - this can prevent MBAM from updating.

The best bet would be to have one of the MBAM malware experts help to check and clean your computer.

Alas, we cannot review scan logs or work on malware detection/removal in this part of the General MBAM forum.

However, there are 3 support options from which to choose:

OPTION 1

As we don't deal with malware removal in this General Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Forum, you need to start a topic in the Malware Removal forum so that a qualified helper can help you fix any malware related problems/infections you may have.
