Hi - I have a compromised computer taken off the network that I need to scan and my Malwarebytes updates were 25 days old. I found an old post on this and saved updates from http://www.malwareby.../mbam-rules.exe to a jump drive and they are 45 days old. I also tried http://www.gt500.org/malwarebytes/database.jsp

Where can I can current updates? My suggestion would be to have a visible website link so they are easier to find. Maybe under suppport.

Thanks very much in advance.

If you have another computer with Malwarebytes installed, you can update its database there, and then follow these instructions:

Note: I think that when you start Malwarebytes then on the infected computer after transferring the rules.ref, the database version will not show accurately. The version information will however correct itself as soon as you are able to connect to the internet with the infected computer and update the database from there.

Hello and welcome, Boudica:

If you have another computer with Malwarebytes installed, you can update its database there, and then follow these instructions:

I think this is what Mystery was trying to advise:

ISSUE: I need to get the latest database onto a computer that cannot access the Internet.

SOLUTION: You can manually copy the database from a working computer using a flash drive or CD onto the infected PC. Our database file is stored in the following locations.

Windows XP and 2000

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref

Windows Vista and Windows 7:

C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref

NOTE, IF YOU NEED ASSISTANCE WITH CLEANING THE COMPUTER, and...: If you are a reseller, affiliate, technician, corporate, business, educational, government or non-profit customer then please contact corporate-support@malwarebytes.org and include full contact details along with your Reference # when you do, in order to ensure that you receive prompt assistance.

HTH,
