XP Internet Security 2012 succesfully removed but problem still exists

Recommended Posts

I followed the steps in another post here to remove XP Internet Security 2012 from a client's Windows XP SP3 computer using Malware Bytes. The malware is gone but there seems to be something left in the registry or elsewhere because whenever you try to run a shortcut on the desktop the windows file association dialog comes up asking you which program you want to use to open the shortcut. Right clicking on the shortcut, select Run As and starting the program that way works. Any help in finding the right registry key or other change would be most appreciated.
