Program_error_updating Help!

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Two days ago I noticed that my Avast Free edtion had stopped auto updating. I tried to manually connect and could not.

I then tried to update Malwarebytes and could not do that either. I get this error, Program_error_updating 536870914,0 connection refused.

I ran a quick scan with mbam and found this.

Hello Budda2,

Are you showing signs of infection?

This can also come from a firewall blocking our update server.

Please allow the following files to access the Internet:

 C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe

Also, please allow the site for our update server:

data-cdn.mbamupdates.com

If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Thank you!

I added all of the above and still cannot connect.

Also as a strange coincidence I was getting a balloon saying that I had no Firewall running when I started up, but my control panel says that my Windows firewall is running.

I'm thinking infection!

Hello, Budda2,

Let's get the experts to check your system and ensure you are clean. Then we can move from there.

As we don't deal with malware removal in the General Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Forum, you need to start a topic in the Malware Removal forum so a qualified helper can help you fix any malware related problems/infections you may have.

You can follow the directions below and someone will assist you with running scans on your system to see if they can detect anything.

Please print out, read and follow the Directions HERE, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here.

One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.

After posting your new post make sure under options that you select Track this topic and choose one of the Email options so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post.

Alternatively, as a paying customer, you can contact the help desk at support@malwarebytes.org

Thank you very much.
