Problem updating

Recommended Posts

I am having trouble updating MB. This is the free version. I am using Windows 7 on a PC. When trying to update MB, I receive the following message:

PROGRAM_ERROR-UPDATING (5, 0 Create File)

access is denied

I never had trouble in the past couple of years updating MB. This has been going on for the past 3 weeks.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled MB and it made no difference. I am using version 1.51.0.1200

Any help would be appreciated.

TIA

Tony

Hey team

I have a registered version running on XP Proffessional and it fails to update every day as scheduled. As I set it to notify me if after three days it has not been updated, this is what happens and I have to manually update everytime.

nzcid as your issue could be different than the original poster, it would have been better to start your own topic, makes it easier for the helpers... Thanks for understanding....

Please do the following:

  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here

    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.
