Win XP MCE will not load

Recommended Posts

Hopefully I can get some help here regarding my HP laptop (I know...never again).

Before turning off my laptop, I scheduled a Chkdsk. Turned it on this morning (Windows screen took longer to load than usual) and chkdsk began and said something about not being able to attribute 128 of 9, but suddenly goes to blue screen with error:

STOP: c0000221 (Bad Image Checksum)

kernel32.dll corrupted...

Tried restoring system to last known configuration (same error eventually appears).

Already tried booting in safe mode, but the system hangs at mup.sys.

I don't have the XP recovery CD (Windows came already installed). My HP Recovery CDs don't seem to work either - even though cd drive is set higher in boot order.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
