So now in 2011 twice now I have been hit with the fake Windows Defender Virus. This literally erased my last machine. Up pop a few screens saying you have a virus and it is the virus. There are several (fake) discussion forums that claim to have a fix. Some suggest Malwarebytes but want you to buy some other less effective outdated virus program.

So now I am hit a second time- Last time machine was trashed after starting up a few times. Enod/Eset did not see it and was loaded at the time. Nor does malwarebytes. It makes your c drive empty. Kills you very fast.

So I have not restarted since infection and ran a few virus and malware programs. Several trojan agents found but no one is really talking about how to remove this one. I think on restart it will be game over.

Restart in safemode? Then re-run Avira-Malwarebytes-superantispyware???????? Any suggestions? I only have this chance after purchasing another machine from after the last wipe-out and then went to the same site somehow again (it was in an old list of sites). OOps.

Any input appreciated.

As we don't deal with malware removal in the General Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Forum, you need to start a topic in the Malware Removal forum so a qualified helper can help you fix any malware related problems/infections you may have.

You can follow the directions below and someone will assist you with running scans on your system to see if they can detect anything.

Please print out, read and follow the Directions HERE, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here.

One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.

After posting your new post make sure under options that you select Track this topic and choose one of the Email options so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post.

Alternatively, as a paying customer, you can contact the help desk at support@malwarebytes.org

Thank you very much.
