Hello - would you please advise me on this issue. I had a google redirect virus and after about three days of trying to fix it myself the whole computer "crashed" I called a computer fix-it guy (Friend of Family) who I will ahve to pay for his 3 hours of work that got my computer to boot up and run - I still have the google redirect though avast! stops the page from opening. Google search is useless to me :(

I cannot update MBAM.

I have tried to find a solution on the forums, but it looks like I need personal attention.

I did STEP 1 and STEP 2 from a similar post

1. here is the SIGVERIF.TXT

2. here is the DDS.txt and the Attach.txt

3. Needs to be sent privately. How do I do that?

Hello and welcome, MJFischer:

It sounds as if you are still infected.

Alas, we do not work on reviewing logs or malware removal in this particular part of the General MBAM forum.

However, free, expert assistance can be found at the malware removal-HJT forum.

Here's how to get started:

1. First, please go to THIS PAGE, print out, read and follow as many instructions as you can, skipping any you are unable to complete. (It looks as if you have started the process by running DDS, which is good.)

2. Then, please describe your computer's symptoms as best you can and post the requested logs by starting a new thread at the Malware Removal-HJT forum . (Please use copy/paste to include the scan results directly in the body of your post, rather than attaching the log files.)

One of the authorized, trained experts will then assist you as soon as possible for one-on-one malware detection and removal.

When you post, please be sure to select Track This Topic & choose one of the email options, so that you will be notified when someone responds.

Please be patient and allow at least 24-48 hours before bumping your thread - the "0" reply count helps the experts spot your thread.

Other Support Options:

--- Alternatively, as a paying customer using MBAM PRO, you may wish instead to start a support ticket by contacting support at: support@malwarebytes.org; or

--- Premium, fee-based support options are available here.

NOTE: If you are a reseller, affiliate, technician, corporate, business, educational, government or non-profit customer then please contact corporate-support@malwarebytes.org and include full contact details along with your Reference # when you do, in order to ensure that you receive prompt assistance.

Also, please use the "Add Reply" button when replying here & at the other boards, so that it will be easier for everyone to follow the thread.

I hope this gets you started on cleaning up your system,

I have the same problem. I had a massive virus attack on my security center. Finally wiped it out, but my free MBAM was gone. Cleaned and re-loaded new MBAM. took advantage of the 14day free trial to Pro. After this ended, I could no longer update. Wiped MBAM off again, re-load, same problem.

I highly doubt it is a virus problem. Any suggestions?

Hello and welcome, trafficdad:

Sorry you are having updating MBAM after your recent infection.

Even if MBAM was apparently successful, it is most likely that there are still infection traces left on the computer.

Complete disinfection of today's stubborn pests often requires running multiple cleanup tools and is a lengthy process.

Please read this post by MBAM moderator Mainard explaining the significance of this particular error message you are getting.

In addition, there is excellent, self-help troubleshooting info for getting MBAM to run on an infected machine here.

And there are specific, self-help malware removal instructions here.

If you would like expert assistance with cleaning your system, there are 3 support options from which to choose:

  • Option 1 -- Free, Expert advice in the Malware Removal Forum
  • Option 2 -- Paying customer using MBAM PRO -- Contact MBAM Support via email
  • Option 3 -- Premium, Fee-Based Support

OPTION 1

As we don't deal with malware removal in this General Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Forum, you need to start a topic in the Malware Removal forum so that a qualified helper can help you fix any malware related problems/infections you may have.

  • First, please print out, read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete.
  • If the infection has so crippled the computer that you cannot follow most/all of the requested steps, then please just proceed as advised below:
  • Then please post a NEW topic here.
  • When posting your new thread, please make sure that, under "options", you select Track this topic and choose Immediate Email Notification, so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post.
  • One of the expert helpers there will give you free, one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.
  • Please refrain from making any further changes to your computer such as (Install/Uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc...) unless advised by a malware removal helper. Doing so can result in system changes which may hinder the attempts by a helper to clean your machine.

NOTE: Please DO NOT post back to ("bump") your topic within the first 48 hours.

Replying to your own posts changes the post count and helpers are looking for topics with zero replies. If you reply to your own post, helpers may think that you're already being helped and thus overlook your post.

  • o If there is no reply from any experts after 48 hours, you can reply to the topic, asking for help again.
    Or
o You may send a Private Message to a Moderator asking for assistance.

OPTION 2

Alternatively, as a paying customer using MBAM PRO, you can contact the help desk at support@malwarebytes.org or here.

OPTION 3

If you would like to use the Malwarebytes Premium Services (Comprehensive solutions to all your computer support needs -- from installation and set-up to troubleshooting and tune-ups), please go to the Malwarebytes Premium Services support site.

Please be patient, someone will assist you as soon as it is possible.

Thanks very much,

daledoc1

PS: Please use the a8JTu.jpg button instead of other ones when you reply here and at the other forums, so that it will be easier to read. :)

NOTE: If you are a reseller, affiliate, technician, corporate, business, educational, government or non-profit customer then please contact corporate-support@malwarebytes.org and include full contact details along with your Reference # when you do, in order to ensure that you receive prompt assistance.

Nope. Not it. Besides, if it was my router, then, I would be having some sort of problem with other programs, particularly security based programs. I have had this same sort of discussion with the Microsoft essentials staff during my virus attack. I will not get into details, but, one must also consider that the program has bugs. I am running a XP system, not Vista or Windows 7. I am beginning to find support and upgrades lacking in attention to this. The problem with MBAM started with the new upgrade and the 14 day trial full version. MBAM got knocked out in the initial attack, but it was the first one that I could bring back to life and I credit it from saving me from doing a hard drive wipe. Right now, when I start MBAM, it says that my program is 36 days out of date. Start there. MBAM has served well, and I don't want to dump it if it can be helped.

Thanks,

Before I go through all of that, I can't be the only one with this problem. Some else must have the same problem (that is how I tracked it here by MJFischer's post - did he get an answer?), and I would hope that a solution is easily available. I would gather by going into the support or help desk, that no one has any idea of what to do. Besides, I dont think the help desk would help someone with problems with the free MBAM. This is actually very disappointing.

There have been multiple users with this issue that have received help via our Support Team.

This error occurs when your DNS settings have been changed, usually by an infection.

Yes, we help users of our product, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, period. It doesn't matter if you have the PRO or Free version.
