Updater: Problem with progress

Recommended Posts

i've already posted the attach.txt and DDS.txt ...

Rudak this topic was originally started by Oldviking and his/her problem seems to be different than yours. It is best for you to start your own topic so the helpers do not get confused as to who is helping who.

Thanks for understanding :)

I believe your system is compromised and needs to be checked...

You need to post your logs in the Malware Removal Forum Section Right HERE

Hello masp:

Unfortunately when you post within the thread of another member's topic, your posts can be overlooked. :(

I am requesting that an Administrator/Moderator move your posts to your own new topic so your attachments aren't lost. :)

In the meantime, please follow the instructions below:

Try a clean re-install by doing the following:

Please have your MBAM PRO Product ID & Key in a safe place. Please be logged in with Administrator privileges.

  • Download and run the latest mbam-clean.exe from here.
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important.
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here.
    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license within the boxed version or were sent via email if using the PRO version.
    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the PRO version. Now setup any reciprocal file exclusions as may be required in your (Avast!) Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.

Please let us know how it goes.

HTH :)

Hello masp:

Please download Oldtimer's latest OTL.exe to your Desktop.

To Download/Run OTL:

  • Download the most recent OTL.exe from
here.
Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
OTL should now start. Change only the following settings:

Change Drivers to:
All
.

Change Standard Registry to:
All
.

Under File Scans, check that
File Age
is
30
.

Click the
Run Scan
button. Do not change any other settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan shouldn't take long.

When the scan completes, it will open two Notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt (first run only). These are saved in the same location as OTL.exe
Please attach these 2 files in your next reply.

Thank you for your patience. :)

Yes we understand this issue remains for a few of you but so far we've not found the cause. As you can see from other posts on the board normally a clean removal and re-install corrects the vast majority of issues but even that does not seem to correct it for a few of you.

We have not forgotten you but we've not found a fix at this time either. As described in an earlier post if needed you seem to be able to go back to an older 1.50 version and disable the program updates to use the program until we do find the cause and fix.

If you're a paying customer and you wish to seek a refund please contact the Help Desk and you can submit a request for refund with them.

Thank you for your patience.

What you can do for now if needed (most users should not need to do this - please seek assistance by creating your own NEW topic, don't reply here, if you need help updating or installing the product).

  • While we review the root cause of this issue you can still download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.50.1.1100 from Filehippo and install the last version before this release and continue to use it.
  • Simply change it so that it does not automatically download Program updates but it will still download database updates just fine.
  • During the installation as it approaches the end it will ask you if you want to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware - just uncheck that option as shown

    mbam_install_uncheck_updates.png

  • Then it will start to launch the program and show you the following dialog box asking to update the database, make sure you click NO

    database_out_of_date.png

  • Then once the program starts click on the Settings tab and on the bottom click on the Updater Settings tab and uncheck the option that says Download and install program update if available

    mbam_1.50.1.1100_uncheck_program_updates.png

  • Then click on the Update tab and check for updates and this time it should only check for and download database updates.
  • Keep an eye out on the board and as soon as we have a fix for it we'll post about it.
