Please Help - XP Security 2011 Virus

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

Hoping someone out there can help me please. My computer has recently been infected with the XP Security 2011 Virus. I have tried to install Malwarebytes but when I click on 'Run' nothing happens and it just won't install. I did try and rename it incase the virus was blocking it but that didn't work either. Now I am no computer wiz so if someone could guide me through with step by step instructions that would awesome.

Thanks,

sunnyj

Hi and welcome to Malwarebytes.

Download DDS by sUBs and save it to your Desktop.

Double-click on the DDS icon and let the scan run. When it has run two logs will be produced, please post DDS.txt directly into your reply.

After you post that, do the following:

  • Download the file TDSSKiller.zip and extract it into a folder on the infected PC.
  • Execute the file TDSSKiller.exe by double-clicking on it.
  • Wait for the scan and disinfection process to be over.
  • When its work is over, the utility prompts for a reboot to complete the disinfection.

By default, the utility outputs runtime log into the system disk root directory (the disk where the operating system is installed, C:\ as a rule).

The log is like UtilityName.Version_Date_Time_log.txt.

for example, C:\TDSSKiller.2.2.0_20.12.2009_15.31.43_log.txt.

Please post that log here.

Hi there,

Many thanks for your reply. For some reason I did not get any of those annoying security alerts popping up all over my screen this morning so thought I would quickly try and download Malwarebytes again, I did, and it all ran smoothly with no problems. It did a quick scan and it detected some viruses so I removed them and will run a full scan. Hopefully that will do the trick.

Thanks again and have a great weekend.
