I am pretty useless on computers for starters.

I am running XP on a PC and usually have AVG as a virus alert.

Recently my computer started telling me I had Security Solutions 2011 so I did some research and it's a trojan.

Advice was to install Malwarebytes which I did....it kept freezing around the 1:20 seconds mark so I purchased the PRO version and it has made no difference.

The program continues to freeze and despite doing control, alt, delete and then closing down the program it will not close down.

I have to restart my computer to unfreeze Malwarebytes.

I don't know if my computer is still infected because the program won't do it's job.

I have contacted Support but they have not replied.

I did not write down my registration code ( I cut and pasted it driectly from the web page when I purchased the PRO version) and they have not emailed it to me?? What's with that? Surely that needs to be remedied??

Any help would be great

Hi and welcome to Malwarebytes.

  • Download the file TDSSKiller.zip and extract it into a folder on the infected PC.
  • Execute the file TDSSKiller.exe by double-clicking on it.
  • Wait for the scan and disinfection process to be over.
  • When its work is over, the utility prompts for a reboot to complete the disinfection.

By default, the utility outputs runtime log into the system disk root directory (the disk where the operating system is installed, C:\ as a rule).

The log is like UtilityName.Version_Date_Time_log.txt.

for example, C:\TDSSKiller.2.2.0_20.12.2009_15.31.43_log.txt.

Please post that log here.

Next, download DDS by sUBs and save it to your Desktop.

Double-click on the DDS icon and let the scan run. When it has run two logs will be produced, please post only DDS.txt directly into your reply.
