What is the difference between kasper sky internet security & Kaspersky pure ?

Recommended Posts

Hello and welcome, markrunbox14:

You are aware that you are posting at the MBAM forum, asking about Kaspersky products, right? :)

PURE offers some additional features (data encryption, backup services, enhanced parental controls, etc) above and beyond KIS.

Here is a table that explains it:

http://www.kaspersky.com/compare

For most folks KIS is more than enough as the features are quite robust(Firewall, AV, Sandbox, other tools).

PURE was originally based on the 2010 code of KL software, but I think the new version, PURE 2, is built on the newer platform.

So, be sure to look for the new version.

Be aware that both programs need a fairly robust system to run properly, especially RAM.

So, be sure to check the "system requirements" before you install.

I am pretty sure both offer at least a 30-day trial for free.

I recommend doing this before you buy.

The current builds available here: http://www.kaspersky.com/productupdates

If you like it, then all you'll need to do is purchase a license and activate the program that is already installed during that 30-day period.

Be sure to buy ONLY from legitimate sources (direct from KL, Best Buy, Amazon (not a 3rd-party reseller)), NOT from ebay, etc.

If price is too good to be true, it will be!!

Also, it is critical that you completely uninstall all other security products (including MBAM, temporarily) to install KIS or PURE.

Instructions here: http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=5233

Some can be reinstalled afterward, others will not be needed or will conflict (e.g. Spybot Tea-Timer, etc).

If you want to have the folks at the KL forum take a look at your system to make sure it is suitable for KIS or PURE, and that there are no potentially conflicting programs installed, then read this & follow the instructions (steps 1-4): http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=915

KIS/KAV English forum: http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showforum=4

PURE English forum: http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showforum=157

Have been running KIS with MBAM PRO for nearly a year on my Win7(x64) desktop and would NEVER go back to McAfee, Norton or other product.

Hello, caxap:

Yes, KIS/KAV 2012 was just released today (French, German, English). :)

Much of the support documentation is still being uploaded to servers.

MBAM is STILL listed as incompatible with KIS/KAV, but it is largely erroneous, outdated information based on older versions of both MBAM and KIS/KAV.

It is true that one must uninstall MBAM temporarily before installing KIS/KAV.

However, at least with the recent (1.45 - 1.51) versions of MBAM and KIS /KAV (2011), they work perfectly fine together for many, many folks, so long as MBAM is installed AFTER KIS/KAV and so long as the proper exclusions and permissions are granted.

A few, rare folks have trouble with MBAM PRO and KIS/KAV, but everyone should be able to run MBAM Free with KIS/KAV.

I expect the same will be true with 2012 (I have not yet updated).

Cheers,

Hi,

Sorry if this topic is too old to reply to, but I thought it would be relevant.

I see that Kaspersky PURE 2 was released before Kaspersky Internet Security 2012. Does this mean that KIS 2012 offers better protection over PURE 2, or has PURE 2 been updated since KIS 2012's release?

Thanks!
