Site Searching

It would be nice to be able to search for MSE, OR "BIT DEFENDER", ON YOUR SITE. without getting that error, then followed by flood control error. Really sucks !

I think you'll find that there are no boards that support 3 character searching. There is a default minimum word search of 4 characters imposed by MySQL on purpose so as not to grind your server to a halt. You can do some customization to allow 3 character searching but almost no one does it.

Flood control is there on purpose as well otherwise one could write a script to hammer the site and produce a similar affect of a denial of service.

I realize you see it as an inconvenience but it's there on purpose as a safety measure on all sites.

Yes you can use Google but that is not a MySQL search like most board software runs.

1. Bleeping Computer returned search results with 3 characters entered: RAR files.

2. I tried the google search with site: malwarebytes.org

It returned a number of hits for the search criteria. Only one was relevant. The others were not relevant to the search criteria.
