My computer has been down already for over a month and it's the only computer we have in my house. So this is preventing us from taking care of any business. Staff screen317 Posted June 19, 2011 Staff ID:442875 Share Posted June 19, 2011 Looks like it's running very hot. Spray out any dust on the fans and heat sinks with some compressed air.
ChrisARNG Posted June 19, 2011 Author ID:442907 Share Posted June 19, 2011 I sprayed the computer out with some compressed air. I also hooked up a vent that I have that goes with laptops. Looks the same problems are still here though. Could this overheating cause my security center to be turned off everytime I log off or shutdown my computer though? Another reason I suspect some malware on the computer is because I downloaded AVAST and it will not start working as my antivirus even when I click fix now. It says it stopped working or is in a inconsistent state.
Staff screen317 Posted June 22, 2011 Staff ID:444102 Share Posted June 22, 2011 Could this overheating cause my security center to be turned off everytime I log off or shutdown my computer though? Not sure what you mean. All Services have to end before the computer can shut down safely. Why is that an issue?
ChrisARNG Posted June 23, 2011 Author ID:444829 Share Posted June 23, 2011 Sorry I guess I fumbled my words. I thought about the overheating and realized that with the overheating that cause my computer to not act properly because it can't read part of my hard drive. So I ran this program I have called SpinRite 6.0 and set it to level 4 to recover as much of my hard drive as possible, and now my computer is great. Everything works properly now. My only remaining question is what can I do about the overheating core temperature of the computer? Thank you!
Staff screen317 Posted June 27, 2011 Staff ID:446135 Share Posted June 27, 2011 You might want to look into applying thermal paste to the processor and heatsink.
