Windows 7 after scan+removal all program links/icons/desktop gone

After cleaning the "TrojanFakeMs" issue (successfully) my computer has the following issues:

- Desktop icons all gone, Desktopwallpaper gone (can't be changed anymore)

- all program links in the Startmenu are gone, folders in the menu are "empty" (see attached image)

- personal Folders including images, Documents, downloads etc are also emtpy

the data is still there, it seems that all links were cut. Any suggestions?

I guess it might be the deleted registry entry, but before engaging in any action, i would

rather consult this forum.

Sorry to hear you are/were infected. You could try this:

Download unhide.exe saving it to your desktop: http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/grinler/unhide.exe

Right click on unhide.exe and select Run as administrator (In case you have Vista or Win7)

Reboot

This will unhide folders/files that were set to be hidden by the infection you had.

Let me know if that solved your problem.

If the above does not work and you are still having issues then you will need to have the experts take a look at your logs and help you get the remainder of the infection removed....
