I have MBAM PRO v. 1.50 my PC and the Update feature in MBAM does not report that there is an update available for v. 1.51. The malware database is updating normally.

If you've rebooted your computer and you're still not getting a program update then please try the following. If it's the Pro version make sure you have a copy of your ID and KEY before running this as it will remove it.

Please do the following:

  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here
    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.

AdvancedSetup:

Thanks for the link to the MBAM Cleanup Utility mbam-clean.exe. MBAM Pro v. 1.51.0.1200 is now installed on my PC and seems to be running fine.

This seems to be a chronic problem. I've had MBAM on my laptop since April 2009 (v. 1.36), and MBAM has failed to detect available program updates for the last three releases (i.e., since May 2010 for the update from v. 1.45 to v. 1.46). If anyone else is having this problem, I might suggest the following:

1. Install the free FileHippo Update Checker (download here) which will report when updates are released for MBAM and many other popular free/trial software programs.

2. For a clean install of MBAM, use the free Revo Uninstaller (download here) to uninstall older versions of MBAM before running the MBAM Cleanup Utility and installing the latest version. I used the Revo Uninstaller this time and it detected 91 registry entries and 11 files left behind by the native MBAM uninstaller (although I'm sure many of these orphaned entries would have been cleaned by the MBAM Cleanup Utility), and I'm hoping this finally fixes the problem.
