I'm having troubles getting malware bytes to run. When i try to open it it gives me an error, or updates and then refuses to run anymore.

When i try use the latest official release it tells me the database is oudated by 150ish days, so i do an update and then it says "The current database is not supported by this version of Malwayebyte's Anti-Malware. Please download the latest version of the program."

I've searched google for this error and found mbam-clean to run, i've ran that but after reinstalling mbam afterwards it gives me an error that says MBAM_ERROR_EXPANDING_VARIABLES (0,9). Followed by another one that says MBAM_ERROR_MISSING_FILE (3,0, mbamswissarmy.sys)

When trying to use the latest beta it gives a different error, here is what that gives me on startup:

PROGRAM_ERROR_LOAD_DATABASE (0,13, CreateSDK)

Can anyone help me get it to run?

Thanks.

Greetings :)

Please do the following:

  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here or the latest beta from here
    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.

That should correct the problem, it sounds like some files are either corrupt or missing, and using the clean tool and reinstalling the program generally fixes it.

Please let us know how it goes.

Thanks :)

OK, for now, just to be on the safe side, I'd like you to get your system analyzed by one of our malware removal specialists to verify that it's clean. If it is, then we'll continue troubleshooting the issue, but if it isn't, they'll help you to get it cleaned up, which will likely correct the issue with Malwarebytes' not running:

We don't work on malware removal in this part of the forums.

Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then create a NEW topic here.

One of the expert helpers there will give you one on one assistance when one becomes available.

Please note that it may take 48 hours or more for you to receive a response in the malware removal forum, as it is often busy at times. Please do not reply to your own post asking for help unless its been more than 48 hours since you originally posted, as this can make it appear as though you are being helped and take longer for you to get help.

If you are unable to do all or any of the steps in the link to the directions above, just post your problem into the forum I gave you a link to anyway and someone will be able to assist you.

If you prefer to be assisted via email you may contact support@malwarebytes.org and one of our support staff members will assist you directly.

If you are a reseller, affiliate, technician, corporate, business, educational, government or non-profit customer then please contact corporate-support@malwarebytes.org and include full contact details along with your Reference # when you do to ensure that you receive prompt assistance.

Thank you :)
