Hi,

I'm pretty sure I have a virus, with the way spyware is constantly found by Ad-Aware, and I mean, in ludicrous numbers, without my going anywhere, at short intervals. Avira and Ad-Aware both found some kind of viruses, mostly exploits and a Trojan that were "low risk" but now when I scan with MBAM or Avira or anything, they either find nothing or lots of spyware. At one point I deleted all of my system restore points and scanned with MBAM, but that didn't find anything. I uninstalled Java entirely (it was a Java-based exploit) and I can't find any extremely suspicious processes in msconfig in start-up or in general. I was going to try to scan in safe mode, but I can't even get into that advanced screen, as when I press F8 on loadup, it just goes to a screen asking which disc I want to start up, and doesn't ask further, just starts up normally. This has been going on, on and off, for one or two weeks. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is really getting to be a nuisance and I'm pretty sure something is there.

Sorry to double post, but when I run DDS, it doesn't finish the scan either, just lags there. I disabled Norton, which is the only AntiVirus running. I also did the DeFogger disable, but only once, and it never asked me to restart, so I restarted without the prompt and ran DDS and DDS didn't finish scan or give me a report.

Hi and welcome to Malwarebytes.

Please update MBAM, run a Quick Scan, and post its log.

Download OTL.exe by OldTimer to your Desktop.

  • Close all windows and double click OTL.exe.
  • Click Run Scan and let the program run uninterrupted.
  • It will produce two logs for you, one will pop up - OTL.txt, the other will be saved on your Desktop - Extras.txt. Post both logs in this thread.
  • You may need to use two posts to get it all.
