I have a infection that is diffferant from others I have removed. I have removed two that acted normal since tackliing this.

got a notice of a virus threat. could not get the notice to go away when he closed by x out or cancel it went to a scan. (Common Fake Alert) He shut down his computer and booted back up. It had a blank blue screen no icons. From start to my computer it shows the c & d drive but when you click C: it searches for a minute and returns could not find. There are no programs when you go start to programs.

I ran virus scan (MBam) after booting in safe mode. I could get into C: and had a desk top of My computer, my network places, recycle, IE and windows media player after scan and normal boot. Still there are no programs in start to programs. I loaded malware and scanned finding more.

Same desk top and no programs not even malware. I can go to C: programs and see the programs to launch but cannot get his desk top or programs to come back.

Today as a last resort I was going to run repair on OS XP. It started the repair as an upgrade and booted after completion. It now loops in the boot process and if you try to run the CD to load it returns there is no hard drive to write to. It will not boot to safe mode.

I am attaching the three scanned logs

Unless I hear otherwise there is nothing to do now but format and rebuild.

Hi and welcome to Malwarebytes.

Please download Unhide.exe by Grinler and save it to your Desktop.

Run it, then restart your computer.

Please update MBAM, run a Quick Scan, and post its log.

Next, download DDS by sUBs and save it to your Desktop.

Double-click on the DDS icon and let the scan run. When it has run two logs will be produced, please post only DDS.txt directly into your reply.
