JRCornell Posted May 27, 2011 ID:433799 Share Posted May 27, 2011 McAfee Security Center, which is not an official McAfee program, has gotten attached to my computer. It appears to be diverting and blocking links and causing other havoc on the computer. I deleted files three different ways, using the program's uninstall feature (which didn't seem to do anything), using the Control Panel's program removal feature, and manually deleting any remaining files via the Recycle Bin. I upgraded and ran Kaspersky Anti-virus and Malwarebytes. Both programs found malicious files that they removed. I also upgraded the browser to Explorer 8. At the moment, my Explorer seems to be working properly. However, I continue to get pop-up warnings from the Security Center. I am concerned because in the past I have cleaned up the computer, only to have the problems pop up again. When I had a similar problem awhile back on another computer with a "Windows Security Center", I was able to get help from this forum that totally cleaned up the computer. It has been working well ever since. What additional steps or programs are recommended to finish cleaning up this computer? Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
