IE8 Favorites not linked after FakeAlert

The pressure was on to get this family PC operating normally so I tried a couple of things that I gleened from other problem logs. First, I ran the "Fix it" utility at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/886549. After a reboot the symptoms persisted. Next I downloaded and ran unhide.exe. This resolved the problem of each user's unique IE8 Favorites not showing and of all pre-virus desktop icons displaying very faded.

I would still like to know if I should take further malware action based on the submited info.

Please download Unhide.exe by Grinler and save it to your Desktop.

Run it, then restart your computer.

Next, please update MBAM, run a Quick Scan, and post its log.

Next, please visit this webpage for instructions for running ComboFix:
