Security essentials and MWB

Recently starting configuring a new laptop for a friend. I use Microsoft Security Essentials on many of these new set-ups as it has been quite sducessful in preventing and stopping most malware.

I always install MWB free as well just so its on hand.

This new system though is acting strange, the daily scan for MSSE does not run. uninstalled reinstalled same result.

I uninstalled MWB and MSSE scheduled scan ran.

I have numerous other systems that has MWB installed and MSSE runs just fine.

I do recall installing MWB prior to MSSE, i wonder...could the order that i install them have anything to do with the conflict?

any thoughts on why MWB wont run?

Hmmm, no not intentionally, but i haven't on any other system and it hasn't bothered MSE before.

i just reinstalled MBAM on the system and reset MSE to run at scan at the top of the next hour.

If it runs or not Ill update after that, i will try to exclude it in MSE as well after that test.

You may have to set up the exclusion in MSE. Sometimes they don't like to work together so I recommend you exclude MBAM from MSE and vice versa. Details on how to do this can be provided here.
