So far to try and remove this virus I have ran Malware Bytes, Spybot Search & Destroy and Avira anti-virus (All in Safe Mode by the way - because I can't run any programs when in normal mode) and it hasn't fixed the virus yet, so I'm hoping someone here can help me...

So I've been reading a bit and it looks like it is a rogue malware protection program-type virus. The name of the "program" is literally "Malware Protection."

All of the effects of the virus that I have encounter:

1) Annoying pop-ups and a taskbar logo for the virus, all claiming clearly false security problems. (to be expected with a virus of this type)

2) I can't run Internet Explorer, Firefox, System Restore, or Malwarebytes. If I attempt to, the rogue program tells me that whatever I am attempting to run is infected with "W32/Blaster.worm" A quick search shows that this worm is 7 years old, and clearly a false warning.

I am running Windows XP on a HP Desktop PC.

I am currently posting from a different computer and as I mentioned earlier can only work in Safe Mode on the infected computer and use a flash drive to download stuff from here to the other computer if necessary.

And FYI, I have the HiJack This program.

Thank you in advance to anyone who can help!

Hi and welcome to Malwarebytes.

Please update MBAM, run a Quick Scan, and post its log.

Next, download DDS by sUBs and save it to your Desktop.

Double-click on the DDS icon and let the scan run. When it has run two logs will be produced, please post only DDS.txt directly into your reply.
