If you think you have a rootkit see this page: I'm infected - What do I do now? -> http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=9573

If you want just to test them or something... Some of them are:

GMER- http://www.gmer.net/

Rootkit UnHooker- http://www.kernelmode.info/ARKs/RkU3.8.388.590.rar

RootRepeal- http://rootrepeal.googlepages.com

If you just need protection for rootkits, the majority of antivirus software does contain antirootkit tech to detect, remove and protect your system from rootkits and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware also detects many installers and droppers for rootkits to prevent them from getting onto your system (assuming you're running the PRO version which includes realtime protection). The scanner/Free version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware can also detect many rootkits.

Thank you all for your responses. I was just thinking it might be good to have one, "at the ready". I downloaded & ran Sophos as a test. It did find hidden files in IE5 content, and I will post new topic for question I have on that.

Guest name cool

All these tools are junk, had to use a lot of these tools but these tools could not detect any of the rootkit. And it is now time to look for a new program specializing in rootkit detection.
