Following instructions in a prior, similar thread, this apparently is a widespread problem, Google results redirecting to spam sites, I ran aswMBR.exe and then combofix. I got an error message that said windows cannot find '32788R22FWJFW/explore.exe' and the window won't close. This was on the 2nd run of combofix. The first time I ran it, I got a similar message but for Firefox. Thinking the rootkit problem was in Firefox, I deleted it from my system entirely and ran combofix again but getting the error message mentioned above. Google and Bing do seem to be working properly at this point but I'm not sure the problem is nailed. I hope that Malwarebytes incorporates this fix into the regular routine scan. Thanks for being helpful and free. Everyone wants to sell you something that mostly disappoints. I found Malwarebytes when I got koobfaced and it worked when nothing else would. Good product. Good team.

Hello and :welcome:

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:

  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.

[*]Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.

[*]A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.

[*]Notepad will open with the results.

[*]Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.

[*]Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.

Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.
