I'm betting the answer is probably 'no', but is there any way I can recover the user ID and product key from a functioning Malware Bytes install. I want to upgrade my brother's OS, but he seems to have misplaced the information that I specifically told him not to lose.

Also note that if you ever lose an ID and Key and can't recover it from the registry, that you can always contact CleverBridge Support and they will be able to retrieve your ID and Key and email them to you (assuming you purchased it through Cleverbridge, if you bought it through a reseller you will most likely need to contact the reseller you purchased it from).

There's more info about wtih Windows 7 Registry locations.

or in Windows 7 it's much more buried, but it should be there. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Thanks, I used the info for the XP location in the registry!

Yes, on any 64 bit version of Windows it will be under the Wow6432Node key. This includes 64 bit versions of Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Hi:

Hi,

when I acces this particular register all I can do is change binary code of it.

This is a VERY, VERY old thread -- replying to such very old forum topics is generally discouraged.
In this case, the information is outdated and does not apply to the current version of MBAM.

The current information is here:

  • You cannot look up your Activation ID and Key from the Registry unless you have a previously licensed 1.x version installed.  Fresh installs now encrypt that data so make very sure you have your ID and Key before you proceed.  Previous 1.x PRO versions did store the ID and Key in the following locations of the Registry but a clean fresh install of version 2.0 will not store it in the Registry.

Location for Windows x86 32-Bit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Location for Windows x64 64-Bit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

If you did have a previously licensed version of 1.x, you can also try running this tool and see if it can find your license key from your previous/current version of MBAM 1.x PRO.  This tool will only work if you have or had version 1.x PRO installed on your computer.
It will save a text file copy of your license ID/key on your desktop:  GetMalwarebytesRegistration
It is a good idea to then copy this file with the license info from your desktop to a more appropriate location, such as your Documents folder.

If you did not have a previously licensed version of MBAM Pro 1.x installed on the system, you will not be able to retrieve your license info from the registry.

The information would have been sent in an email at the time of the online purchase.

If you do not have the email containing the license ID/key sent from the ecommerce partner, cleverbridge, at the time of online purchase, you can contact them to obtain that info: How do I obtain my license key?

Thank you.
