malwarebytes hangs/not responding in the middle of scan

I have downloaded Malywarebytes, but when I tried to scan my system it hangs/stop responding in the middle of process.

I have tried to run chkdsk and defrag, but still not helping.

By the way, I did everything in safe mode and I'm running windows xp on HP mini.

Security/firewall: roxio (can't work) and avast (just downloaded today but it can't work too)

mbam version: 1.50.1.1100

I don't know what is definition version.

yes I'm infected with ms removal tool malware

during scan, it shows that i'm infected with 3-5 viruses before it freezes.

my mbam is a free one. and by definition, is it the same as database version? if yes, then mine is 6603. thanks

Try and update it cause the current version is 6631.... also I edited my instructions above in post #4 so you may want to recheck those....
