I got into a nasty virus this morning and need some assistance. The virus was one of those ones that says to scan your system, but I have not clicked any of its options. I went to task manager to stop it from running. Tried to run Malwarebytes in SAFE mode with no luck and have followed some step that I found in another thread using ATF Cleaner, then Goored Fix and TDSS Killer.

It looks like it has wiped my HD, but when I am able to run Malwarebytes, I can see missing programs. It is almost like I am not seeing my HD. Any suggestions? This has a ton of work info that I would like to try to recover asap.

Oh yes, if I go into my Add/Remove Programs, I can see all of my programs, but nowhere else can I.

Hi and welcome to Malwarebyes.

Bumping your topic makes it seem like you are already being helped, and as you've noticed, you were overlooked because of it.

Please download Unhide.exe by Grinler and save it to your Desktop.

Run it, then restart your computer.

Next, please update MBAM, run a Quick Scan, and post its log.

Next, download DDS by sUBs and save it to your Desktop.

Double-click on the DDS icon and let the scan run. When it has run two logs will be produced, please post only DDS.txt directly into your reply.

I have run MBAM and it was clean. Unhide has been run a few times along with "attrib -h /s /d" at the DOS prompt. The DDS log is attached below. At this point, it looks like my system is clean, but I cannot see my programs from the start menu or in Windows Explorer, but they are there when a scan is run with antivirus.

I notice that you are using more than one antivirus program (AVG, Antivir, and MSE). This is very dangerous, as multiple AVs can interfere with one another and actually allow MORE viruses to get through. I strongly suggest you go to Start -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs and uninstall all but one antivirus program.

Which files can the antivirus see but you can't?
