Hi everyone

I have installed MALWAREBYTES ANTIMALWARE for many weeks. It's a good antispyware and the scanner is fine, but since last 11/12 the updater doesn't work at all (my current database version is 1456)!

Every time I try to update the program on MALWAREBYTES.COM or on SECURITYWONKS.COM I get the message "internet connection failed".

I have read other topics posted here but none of them can help. My internet connection appears to be fine and other software can still update itself. I don't use any proxy server or any firewall that may block the update process.

So the question is: how can I solve this annoying issue?

Please note that I've not been able to perform any updating for 5 consecutive days even at late night (Italian time zone) when your server is not as busy as in the afternoon or evening hours.

Look forward to hearing from you very soon.

Best regards.

Giovanni from Italy!

That was the error between 2AM and 9AM today , when was the last time you tried ? All of the ones I have worked with directly are no longer experiencing any problems .

Hi!

Thanks for your prompt reply!!

I tried to update MALWAREBYTES all the time, except in the morning (Italian time zone).

Even now (2.43 pm) the updater doesn't work!!

So what's the best time to update the program?? And why I never experienced any problem till last 11th December?

You said:"That was the error between 2AM and 9AM today".

Which time zone are you talking about?

European or American time zone?

Waiting for your feedback!!

Cheers.

Hi!

I've just found this link on your forum:

http://www.gt500.org/malwarebytes/database.jsp

Since I've not been able to update MALWAREBYTES for 5 consecutive days at any time of the day and night, can I update it offline using the OFFLINE DATABASE??

Of course I learned that the link mentioned above is not updated as often as the online database is, but my current database version is 1456, so quite old compared to that downloadable offline (1498).

Usually how long is the temporal gap between the ONLINE and OFFLINE DATABASE VERSION?

I've experienced this problem today updating from Securityworks after 9am. I've had to run 'update' 2 or 3 times before it finally worked. I don't get the error updating from Malwarebytes. What was the problem resolution?

SecurityWonks has some odd issues that have apparently not all been worked out. I think there are going to be changes in the updater in the next version, but I'm not sure what all is planned. Please try to bear with us as we deal with this issue.

Three days now I've had this problem, on two machines, and after the fiasco with the startup issue a couple of weeks back I'm very close to ditching this thing.

Please get it sorted, or be one user less.

I understand your frustration. We've been getting frustrated about certain parts of this issue as well. For instance, today our datacenter detected a power issue, and pulled the plug on our server while they fixed it. It was just our luck that our server was the only one located close enough to whatever was causing the power issue that it had to be shut down.

Granted our service provider is not causing all of the issues. I think one of the major reasons why it's taking so long is that, during the holiday season, everyone has been twice as busy. It's making it hard for people to get things done. Do not worry though, because Marcin is taking steps to ensure that he has time to work on solving the problem.

Also, make sure that your automatic update settings (if you are using the Pro version) are not set to update at 1:00AM EST. That will fix part of the issue.

Oh, and I can tell you that the next release will allow you to save your preferred update mirror, so you can set it for malwarebytes.org only if you need to.
