Hi, I'm new on here, so go easy please...

I've noticed problems over the past couple of days with Firefox redirecting me to random websites from Google. I already had Malwarebytes installed so ran it and discovered I had two infected files (both Trojan.ZbotR.Gen). I removed them and rebooted as instructed. The symptoms reappeared, so repeated the scan and found the same two infected files again. Done a bit of Googling and have discovered that others have experienced the same thing with the virus reappearing after reboot, despite removal with Malwarebytes.

Shall I copy and paste in my log report from my Malwarebytes scan?

I have found several threads relating to this trojan, but the removal instructions have been specific to individual users, so thought I'd post here rather than risk getting it wrong. I'd appreciate any hep you can offer.

Katrina

Hi Katrina and Welcome to Malwarebytes!

Shall I copy and paste in my log report from my Malwarebytes scan?

Yes please. Post it with the following:

We need to look at some information about what is going on in your computer:

Please perform the following scan:

  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.

[*]Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.

[*]A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool.

[*]When done, DDS will open two (2) logs

    1. DDS.txt

    2. Attach.txt

[*] Save both reports to your desktop.

[*] The instructions here ask you to attach the Attach.txt.

    DDS.jpg

[*]Instead of attaching, please copy/past both logs into your Thread

[*]Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.

Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run.

After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection.

Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control HEREThen post your DDS (DDS.txt and Attach.txt
