Vundo found by AVG but not Malwarebytes?

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

I recently used Malwarebytes to remove the vundo trojan from my PC, which it seemed to do very effectively. The pop ups stopped and all other visible signs of infection were gone as far as I could tell.

The PC has been fine for around a week since then. However tonight following a definitions update my copy of Grisoft's AVG come up with two different warnings about vundo still being present.

I re-ran Malwarebytes and it came up clean so I am left wondering whether or not the AVG warnings are false positives or not. Could anyone give me a clue as to how best to find out?

Many thanks in advance for any advice given.

No in Sys32. I have system restore turned off on this PC.

To be honest I was surprised that AVG was (supposedly) finding something that Malwarebytes didn't since this is the app I had been recommended to remove vundo. The AVG history gives this when dumped to a text file:

"Trojan horse Vundo.CI";"C:\WINDOWS\system32\tefifohi.dll";"Moved to Virus Vault";"15/12/2008, 20:41:10";"file";"C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe"

"Trojan horse Vundo.CJ";"C:\WINDOWS\system32\yebesuna.dll";"Moved to Virus Vault";"15/12/2008, 20:41:52";"file";"C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe"

I'm not entirely sure what that means.
