Hello,

I want to first explain my setup so people understand where I am coming from.

At my home I have a main desktop pc which the broadband connection is feeding into with my modem then I have a router which is feeding wireless internet to another 2 laptops in other rooms.

Just recently a family member got a series of very bad viruses on the desktop pc (trojans, worms, keyloggers) 38 viruses all together :( which were residing on the desktop pc for a week without informing anyone else that they had gotten the viruses.

My friend has really worried me recently and told me that because the laptops are connected to the same network and all share one internet connection the data stored on the laptops were also possibly read as they are sent through the wi-fi.

One laptop is used for straight business and is always used to access paypal, hosting accounts etc (always entering passwords) and I am now worried that my private information could now be at risk due to the viruses reading the network.

Is this actually possible, can this happen or is just paranoria?

Thanks

:welcome:

Malware can spread across the network infecting everything else. I highly suggest you contact all your financial firms and tell them your personal info might have been stolen. Also change all your email and account (Paypal, bank etc) passwords from a known clean pc.

We don't work on Malware removal or diagnostics in the general forums.
