Adding more RAM to my pc ( Need some help please)

Hey guys i am hoping for some help. I currently have an older Dell Optiplex GX260 pc. It currently has a 512mb card of ram connected to it and that's it. However, i recently stripped an old computer of its parts and I now have a spare Samsung PC 133 REG ECC 512mb ram card that i am curious to see if i can use on this current DELL system?? Here are some specs for my pc. If you need any more info please let me know and thanks.

Anyone who is familiar with my Dell have any ideas if i can use this samsung RAM chip?? I have no problems just attempting it for now on my own, as long as there is not an issue of me damaging the computer if it is not compatible?? I have more serial number info on the samsung ram board if needed too

According to the system specs here your system won't accept that RAM as it requires 266 or 200 MHz RAM. I checked using Crucial's memory finder and came up with the same thing. PC3200 (which is backwards compatible with 2700) and PC2700 184 pin DDR. Looks like that PC133 you found won't work .

darn it lol. Oh well. I am sure i can buy a few more 512mb for this Dell. I am sure my Dell should be compatible with most RAM chipsets as long as they are within the specs required??

Yep, you can find DDR PC3200/PC2700 pretty much anywhere. It was the most common standard of RAM for a very long time until DDR2 became commonplace (thanks to Intel). You should be able to find a 1GB stick of the stuff or even a 2GB kit (2x1GB) for pretty cheap so you can max it out if you wish.

Check the repair shops etc. too, they probably have some sticks lying around from old/dead systems that you can pick up super cheap .
